May 01: Senior journalist Shoaibul Hassan, who was picked up from his residence in Karachi by plainclothed and police uniform personnel on May 30 at 6pm, was freed six hours after detaining him.
May 3: Key press clubs across Pakistan observe World Press Freedom Day passing resolution seeking federal and regional governments’ support special legislation to protect journalists.
May 7: Unknown assailants gunned down former TV journalist and blogger Khurram Zaki in Karachi. He was leading campaign against extremism and sectarian violence.

May 13: Police tortured local journalist Naimat Sarhadi, working for VOA Deewa Radio and Express News channel in Chaman border town in Balochistan. The journalist was bruised and suffered light bleeding also.
May 19: Protesting farmers attack journalists in Lahore for “not covering our protest” against the government in Lahore.
May 21: Police arrest a person accused of attacking residence of journalist Umar Farooq Paracha in Hangu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The journalist escaped unhurt. However, his relative was injured in the attack
