March 7: Local journalist Shahid Mirza had a narrow escape from life attempt during a violent attack on Urdu Daily Changari at central Shaheed Chowk in Mirpur of Azad Kashmir by a group of youth of Pakistan Muslim League (N) enraged by the journalist’s articles.

March 19: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced setting up a commission for safety and security of journalists in Pakistan, a demand both national and international media watchdog organizations have been making to fight back the deep-rooted impunity of crimes against media in the country, during a meeting with delegation of CPJ in Islamabad.
