Jan 04: Bloggers Waqas Goraya and Asim Saeed went missing from Lahore.
Jan 06: Salman Haider, a professor at Fatima Jinnah University in Islamabad and social media activist, is reported went missing from Banigala in Islamabad and Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan ordered inquiry into his disappearance.
Jan 07: Social activist Samar Abbas, who is president of Civil Progressive Alliance Pakistan (CPAP), has reportedly gone missing from the federal capital.
Jan 08: Blogger Ahmed Raza Naseer is reported missing, relatives said.
Jan 10: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan tells the Senate that the government is not in business of making disappearances of leading bloggers in the country. He was responding to concerns over a number of bloggers’ missing since January 4.
Jan 13: Unidentified assailants shot dead 37-year-old part-time journalist Muhammad Jan Sumalani in Kalat. . He was working Daily Qudrat and Daily Talar, Quetta. However, the motive for Jan’s killing is not yet clear.

Jan 28: On directive of Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi, police registered FIR against Mir Shakilur Rehman, owner of Jang media group, PEMRA chief Absar Alam, two Geo News anchor Najam Sethi and Muneeb Farooq. The FIR was lodged after a complainant, Gul Khan, said Najam Sethi and Muneeb Farooq “hatched conspiracy by hurling baseless allegations against the military, the government and the judiciary.

Jan 29: Authorities in Gilgit-Baltistan issued notices to three newspapers in Gilgit – K2, Ausaf and monthly magazine Kargil – for publishing news stories against the Gilgit-Baltistan government.
