Sept 8: Additional district magistrate in Islamabad cancelled declaration of Taas newspaper after a news report about alleged “favouritism” in appointments by commissioner Islamabad office was published.
Sept 12: Supporters of religious group “La Baik Ya Rasol Allah” attacked TV crew of Neo channel. Reporter Usman, cameramen Ali Raza and Ameer Hamza were attacked with sticks and stones when they were returning from PTI meeting. The supporters also damaged the channel’s DSNG van. The attackers, according to channel’s bureau chief Ayaz Shujah, were “angry” at not getting “due coverage.”
Sept 12: Missing journalist from Hyderabad Ghulam Rasool Barfat returned home after he went missing on August 5 from his residence in Sindh University Housing Society. Freedom Network alerted his case in its August Data Analysis and his safe return was welcomed.

Sept 17: Journalists, accredited by Election Commission of Pakistan, were denied entry into polling stations to cover NA120 by-elections in Lahore.
Sept 17: Military personnel detain drone operator and DSNG van driver of Geo News channel outside the office of Provincial Election Commissioner waiting to get results of by-elections for NA120 constituency. Both were freed after assured no drone coverage will take place.
Sept 21: Multan Police attacked Samaa TV reporter Wajih Ahsan and cameraman Aslam Baig while doing coverage outside Mumtazabad Police Station in Multant city. Multan Union of Journalists condemned the police attack and demanded action against police officials involved in the attack.
Sept 24: Two motorcyclists threw brick to smash windscreen of car of senior journalist Matiullah Jan who hosts talk-show on Waqt News and writes weekly op-ed piece, in Barakahu area near Islamabad. He and his children survived the attack. I do not have any family or personal feud and this attack is a signal for me,” he confides to Freedom Network.
Sept 26: Plain-clothed security personnel attacked three TV journalists – Amir Saeed Abbasi of Dunya News, Shah Khalid Hamdani of 92 News and Saad bin Altaf of Neo TV channels – were attacked during coverage of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s appearance before accountability court in Islamabad. Abbasi fainted after the attack.
Sept 28: Balochistan government removes journalist Ali Raza Rind’s name from “the Fourth Schedule” of Anti-Terrorism Act. His name was included in the list in January 2016.
Sept 29: Yaseen Rind, president of Sehwan Press Club, was released from Central Jail in Hyderabad after Anti-Terrorism Court judge ordered to remove anti-terrorism charges from FIR against the journalist.
Sept 29: Anti-Terrorism Court in Gilgit summoned Daily Times reporter Shabbir Saham to appear before the court on October 7. The journalist had filed in Daily Times in November 2016 a story on human trafficking involving allegedly ruling Pakistan Muslim League (N) legislators in autonomous Gilgit-Baltistan region. The regional government of PML-N filed a case under Anti-Terrorism Act against the journalist. The GB government attempted to arrest him last November from Islamabad but National Press Club and Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists resisted the move to save Shabbir.
